Destitute Widow Pension Scheme

To assist widows with no source of income, the Government of Tamil Nadu launched the Destitute Widow Pension scheme for providing incentives to the destitute widows.

Beneficiaries:

  • Poor widows of Tamil Nadu

Eligibility:

  • No age limit
  • Must have no source of income
  • Must not be a beggar by profession
  • Must not hold property value more than Rs. 5,000/-
  • Pension is given inspite of having legal heir of above 18 years of age
  • Instead of getting the reports regarding the pension given to the widows from Village Administrative Officers and Revenue Inspectors, copy of resolution of Village Panchayat / Town Panchayat may be submitted
  • If re-married, assistance shall not be given

Benefits:

  • A sum of Rs. 400/- per month

Valid:

Upto 31st December, 2020

How to Avail:

The beneficiary may approach the Tahsildar/Special Tahsildar (Social Security Scheme)
