- India has committed to achieving 40 per cent cumulative electric power installed capacity from non-fossil fuel based energy resources by 2030.
- From the current power generation capacity of one per cent, solar energy mix will be scaled up to 18 per cent, said officials in its recently submitted Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDC) ahead of the crucial climate change conference in Paris.
- The renewable energy generation today accounts for 28 per cent of the total capacity and by 2030 in India, the total installed renewable capacity would be in excess of 8,00,000 MW from the present 2,60,000 MW.
