Shishu Greh Scheme

The government of India has started Shishu Greh Scheme. The purpose of the scheme is to regulate adoption in the country, to provide institutional care for orphaned, destitute and surrendered children prior to adoption and to promote in-country adoption. Under the scheme, NGOs can register to run a Shishu Greh.


  • NGOs registered under the societies registration Act(1860) or under Public Trust Act with minimum three years of experience in the field of child welfare
  • The NGO/Trust should also be registered with the State Government under the Orphanages and other Charitable Homes Act 1960
  • Government-run-children Homes should be permitted by the respective State Governments for doing in-country adoption before they are eligible for applying for Grant-in-Aid under the scheme

  • It will help to eradicate the menace of child labor and trafficking
  • Scheme is aimed at changing the life homeless orphaned
  • NGOs will get 90% of fund from the center for running Shishu Greh
