Plastone – A low cost technique to make hygienic toilets.

A team under leadership of Mr. R. Vasudevan from Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Chennai, had developed a solid stone from waste plastic and stone.

R Vasudevan has received Safai Giri Award for his contribution towards Swatch Bharat campaign.

The required equipment was already installed in the university and a developed process is in the pipe line.

In labs it is found very strong and withstand pressure and resist water strain.

It had a higher transverse strength of 300 kg, whereas a cement block’s strength is 60 to 70 kg and cheaper to cement blocks.

The central government has sanctioned Rs.17.16 lacs to study this project.
