Students with Disability can get up to Rs. 10 lakh to pursue professional courses in India

In a bid to financially support disabled students to help them meet tuition and other fees, maintenance cost, cost of books and other equipment etc. for pursuing professional courses from a recognized university or educational institution in India or abroad, the National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation (NHFDC)’s State Channelizing Agency (SCA) has implemented the Scheme for Loan for Education/Training to Disabled Persons.

Eligibility: Any Indian Citizen with over 40% disability is eligible to apply for this loan.
Type of Loan: Term Loan
Borrower: Disabled student and parent or guardian jointly

Financial Assistance:

Studies in India Maximum Rs. 10 lakhs
Studies in Abroad Maximum Rs. 20 lakhs

Promoter’s contribution:

Loan Amount Contribution in %
Up to Rs. 4 lakh Nil
Above Rs. 4 lakh for courses in India 5%
Above Rs. 4 lakh for courses abroad 15%

Rate of interest: The rate of interest is 4% annually.

Rebate: A rebate of annual 0.5% on interest rate to women beneficiaries.

Repayment duration: The loan can be repaid after 7 years of availing it.
