Mumbai getting upgraded to international financial center

  • The coastal road and the Mumbai transharbour link (MTHL) connecting the island city with the mainland work will begin in next few months and will be completed within five years.
  • With former Deutshce Bank co-CEO Anshu Jain and SBI chief Arundhati Bhattacharya as the co-chairs a committee is formed to consider all issues relating to the international financial centre.
  • Companies from China, Japan and Korea along with a US firm are completing the projects at competitive interest rates.
    Maharashtra government currently sanctioned 76 kilometres of metro network.
  • 50 per cent of the arbitration that is done in Singapore is from India and 60 per cent of that is from Mumbai.
