Maharashtra Finance Minister seeks report on purchases in last 10 years

News:

  • Maharashtra Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar said he sought a report on all purchases made under the rate contract system in the last 10 years from government departments to gather information from various departments and to understand the facts.
  • He said that 31,208 items are lying in godowns unused, that were bought in Financial Year 2013-14 and government had spent Rs 29.13 crore on purchase of such items which shows the misuse of Government funds.
  • Mungantiwar said a sum of Rs 99.36 lakh was drawn from treasury before the contractor supplied materials to ITI at Wangaon in Thane.
  • Under the contract system, the buyer and the seller enter into an agreement for supply of items at a fixed price.
