India masters Cryogenic Technology – a complex tech once denied to India

News:

  • The cryogenic engine will power ISRO’s next generation monster rocket, the Geo-synchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark III, capable of carrying the 8 ton class of satellites to space.
  • ISRO crossed an important milestone when it successfully tested the country’s latest and most powerful cryogenic engine for 800 seconds.
  • It has taken Indian scientists 20 years to master the technology, which uses liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen as fuel and ISRO has already uses a smaller version of the cryogenic engine on its GSLV MK II rockets.
