IIT-M to light 50 Rajasthan villages with solar power

News:

  • Union Government will be providing Rs.10 crore for the pilot project for about 4000 houses in 50 villages in Jodhpur and Jaisalmer districts to light up using solar energy.
  • The project will comprise installation of a tubelight, a LED, one fan and a battery charger with the solar panel and also a provision for installing solar panel in a cluster, said Jodhpur Power Distribution Company MD Arti Dogra.
  • She also said a group of three students of IIT Madras will survey the villages, after which the terms and conditions, including the cost of the project, would be laid down.
