The central government today has revealed that electricity has reached to 5,537 villages in the current financial year (2015-2016) under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY).
- The Ministry of Power has said that 258 villages have been electrified in the last week (15th-21st February, 2016) under DDUGJY.
- Out of these villages, 120 are from Orissaq, 64 villages are from Jharkhand, 41 from Assam, 19 from Madhya Pradesh, 8 from Rajasthan and lastly 6 villages are from Chhattisgarh.
- The ministry has also said that among the remaining 12,915 villages left to be electrified, 9,026 villages will be given electricity through grid and 3,381 villages will be through off-grid where the grid solutions cannot be utilized because of geographical barriers.
