Government to launch thrift scheme for weavers

Telangana government will soon launch a thrift scheme for welfare of weavers in the state. Industries and municipal minister KT Rama Rao on Thursday announced the new scheme, aimed at ensuring social security for weavers, will be launched at Pochampally in Yadadri-Bhongir district on June 24.

The minister who held a review meeting with the textile department officials said the thrift scheme would not only benefit weavers but also loom workers. The matching grant of 8% being given to weavers on their savings would be doubled to 16%.
