Distress Relief Scheme

Most of the members of the family live their lives depending on one breadwinner for their livelihoods. However, with their demise, they become helpless. The Government of Tamil Nadu thus introduced the Distress Relief scheme to provide financial assistance to bereaved families who have lost their breadwinners.


  • Legal heir of the deceased breadwinner of the family
  • Landless agricultural labourers family
  • Marginal farmers who possess less than 2.5 acres of irrigated land or 5 acres of unirrigated land or a total 5 acres of irrigated and unirrigated land, 1 acre irrigated land to be taken as 2 acres unirrigated land. If lease cultivation 1 acre lease land should be taken as 0.5 acres and thus total area to be arrived
  • Annual income should be Rs. 7200/- from all sources


  • A sum of Rs. 10,000/-
