Digital Village : Promoting Digital Programme in rural India

Common Services Centers (CSCs) are a strategic cornerstone of the Digital India programme. They are the access points for delivery of various electronic services to villages in India, thereby contributing to a digitally and financially inclusive society.

CSCs enable the three vision areas of the Digital India programme:

CSCs are more than service delivery points in rural India. They are positioned as change agents, promoting rural entrepreneurship and building rural capacities and livelihoods. They are enablers of community participation and collective action for engendering social change through a bottom-up approach with key focus on the rural citizen.

Objective:

  • To achieve goals for the benefits of rural population through a combination of IT based and non-IT based services.

Eligibility:

The eligible are agencies of Common Service Schemes:

  • National Level Service Scheme
  • State Designated Agency

Benefits:

  • To promote rural entrepreneurship.
  • To connect villages with IT network.
  • Delivery of various electronic services to villages in India, thereby contributing to a digitally and financially inclusive society.
  • Building rural capacities and livelihoods.

CSCs enable the three vision areas of the Digital India programme:

  • Digital infrastructure as Utility to Every Citizen
  • Governance and services on demand
  • Digital empowerment of citizens

Services offered by Common Service Schemes-

  • Agriculture Services (Agriculture, Horticulture, Sericulture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Veterinary)
  • Education & Training Services (School, College, Vocational Education, Employment, etc.)
  • Health Services (Telemedicine, Health Check-ups, Medicines)
  • Rural Banking & Insurance Services (Micro-credit, Loans, Insurance)
  • Entertainment Services (Movies, Television)
  • Utility Services (Bill Payments, Online bookings)
  • Commercial Services (DTP, Printing, Internet Browsing, Village level BPO)

Application Process:

  • Applicant should be a local person
  • Age of Applicant should be minimum 18 years
  • Applicant should preferably have passed the 10th level examination from a recognized board
  • Applicant should be fluent in reading and writing the local dialect and should also have basic knowledge of English language.
  • Prior Knowledge in basic computer skills would be advantage
  • Applicant should be motivated enough to be the prime driver of social change and disperse his or her duties with utmost dedication.
