- Shannon May, co-founder and chief strategy officer of Bridge International Academies (BIA) expressed interest in partnering with Andhra Pradesh for providing low-cost education services for children from underserved communities for pre-primary and primary education
- Presently BIA headquarters will be in Vijayawada and later it will be moved to Amaravati.
- BIA currently trains children in more than 400 academies in Kenya, Uganda and Nigeria
- BIA is funded by leading investors such as Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Khosla Ventures and IFC (World Bank Group) among others.
