Kalpataru Scheme

The state government of Assam launched the Kalpataru Scheme in the year 2003-2004 to provide support for self-employment in agriculture, industries and service sectors. The scheme was modified in the year 2007-2008 possessing three components. These components are as under-

Maximum amount of Rs. 7,000/-

 

Minimum amount – Rs. 7,000/- to Rs. 40,000/-

 

Maximum amount- Rs. 40,000/- to Rs. 75,000/-

 

No beneficiary contribution

 

20% ,or less if bank loan is more, beneficiary contribution

Target areas-

Small enterprises like Piggery, Poultry, Rickshaw, Pan shop, Silkworm rearing, Saloon, Tailoring, etc

 

Target areas-

Scheme taken up by the Assam Khadi Village Industries Board and Rural Employment Guarantee Program or as implemented by other development department

 

Target areas-

Any medium type of micro enterprise that are financed and supported by Industry and Commerce department

 

Eligibility-

Unemployed youths from families with annual income below Rs. 30,000/-

 

 

Eligibility-

Unemployed youths with some financial resources and an annual family income below Rs.60,000/-

 

 

Eligibility-

Unemployed youths with some financial resources to invest and an annual family income below Rs. 60,000/-

 

 

Beneficiaries:

Educated unemployed of BPL families/families who have not availed government loans or assistances from other source

Benefits:

Financial Assistance through cheque and bank loan

Application Procedure:

  • For Component I and II, applications are invited through public advertisement and screened by the Deputy Commissioner
  • For Component III, applications are invited by the General Manager of District Industrial Centre (DIC)
  • The selection is done at the district level by a Committee chaired by the Deputy Commissioner for all the components
