Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu has on Thursday launched AP FiberNet in Visakhapatnam with an aim to provide low-cost internet connectivity to every household and workplaces across the state.
- A broadband connection will be provided at Rs. 149 monthly with a speed of 15 Mbps and simultaneously 100 Mbps connection will be provided to offices with a monthly cost of Rs. 999.
- These rates are far cost-effective compared to what other internet service providers are presently charging.
- The states Fiber Grid project is a pilot project under the central government’s National Optic Fiber Network and has been implemented in the state with a corpus of Rs. 333 crore. The project will later on be launched in other districts of AP as well by July this year.
- Andhra Pradesh’s main aim is to connect 1.3 crore households through the AP FiberNet and the state has partnered with Cisco company to launch the project efficiently.
