Alternate Route for India to Trade with Afghanistan and Central Asia

  • Decks have been cleared for India at Iranian port of Chabahar which will be used to ship crude oil and urea.
  • This port consists of multi-purpose cargo and container terminal.
  • Both the countries will invest around $85 million for developing this port.
  • This will become an alternative route for India to trade with Afghanistan and Central Asia , bypassing Pakistan and will counter the Chinese presence in the Pakistani port of Gwadar.
