Abolition of Bonded Labour System

The Government of Tamil Nadu has announced an end to the use of bonded labour system. This scheme aims at releasing the persons forced to work as bonded labourers. It has been launched under the concerned department of Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department, which aims at benefitting people, especially SC/ST, who have been working as bonded labourers.


  • To release people working as bonded labourers
  • To provide them financial assistance
  • To provide housing site pattas, houses under the group housing scheme through IRDP, drinking water facility and bank loan assistance
  • To ensure sustainable life by providing various assistances


  • All bonded labourers of the state
  • SC/ST are the main targeted beneficiaries


  • Bonded labourers will be provided financial assistance as a grant
  • A sum of Rs. 20,000/- will be given, of which a sum of Rs. 1000/- will be given immediately after the release from bondage
  • Remaining sum of Rs. 19,000/- will be given to the rehabilitation through various kinds

How to Avail:

  • Released bonded labourers may approach- Collector, Sub Collector, Revenue Divisional Officer, Deposit Accounts Department


  • This scheme will be valid upto 31st December, 2020
